The use of RFID tags in the food and beverage processing industry

RFID technology plays a great role in the processing and production of the food and beverage industry. It not only improves production efficiency, but also improves food production quality and food safety levels.

Mainly reflected in the following five aspects:

1. Procurement and receipt of raw materials for food and beverages:

a. In the raw material procurement stage, RFID technology records key information of raw materials, such as production date, supplier information, batch number, etc., by attaching RFID tags to raw material containers.

b. RFID technology can realize automatic reading and entry of raw material information, greatly reducing the error rate of manual information entry, and effectively improving the efficiency and accuracy of raw material procurement and receipt.

2. Cleaning and sorting of food and beverage raw materials:

RFID is used in the cleaning and sorting process of raw materials. It can quickly identify the source of raw materials and automatically set corresponding cleaning and sorting plans based on different RFID tag information. The efficiency of cleaning and sorting is greatly improved.

3. Cutting and grinding of food and beverage raw materials:

In the cutting and grinding process, RFID tag applications are more flexible and diverse. It can be embedded into cutting tools and grinding equipment, record the operating status and service life of the equipment, and provide equipment operating data, including operating time, number of operations, etc. These data provide an important reference for equipment maintenance, extend the service life of equipment, and reduce maintenance costs.

4. Cooking, baking and steaming of food and beverages:

a. In the cooking, baking and steaming processes, RFID technology is used to monitor temperature and time.

b. By adding RFID tags to cooking utensils or containers, the cooking temperature and time are recorded in real time, and the temperature threshold is set. Once the temperature exceeds the set range, the RFID system will automatically issue an alarm. The quality and safety of the product are ensured.

5. Product traceability and recall:

a. The application of RFID tags on product packaging enables full traceability of products. By scanning RFID tags, the production process and supply chain information of the product can be quickly traced.

b. Once a product quality problem or recall occurs, RFID technology can quickly locate the affected batches and products and achieve a rapid recall. It can reduce the company’s recall costs.
